Double Red Ale / Christmas Brown, 9%: Almost opaque brownish color and a copper hue. Creamy dark beige 3-4 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with light legs but a good reaction to a swirl. Flavors of plums, prunes, molasses, nutmeg, vanilla, clove, black liquorice, dark grains and herbal spices. Creamy and milky medium body with a moderate crisp. Very strong finish, a bit dry, chalky and earthy, thick malty and bready barley feel with some grassy and super leafy hops. Nice barrel aged feel. Similar to a barleywine, but with dominant toffee, very well executed. Quite bold and robust, highly warming, while decently fresh. Festive but not excessive, could be drank anytime. Deeply flavorful, tasty but a bit too harsh, but there’s good balance in the flavors. Overall very good quality craft.
