Extra Special/Strong Bitter, 5.6%: Cloudy and murky dark amber caramel color with not much visible activity. Creamy beige 2-3 finger head, lasting around 15 minutes, with average legs but good swirl reaction. Flavors of toffee, roasted grains dominant barley, berries, pears, and herbal hops. Slick and smooth medium to full body with sharp carbonation. Medium to strong strength finish, toasty with leafy dry hops, thick caramel and honey. Heavier yeast profile than a typical ESB, more fruity and hoppy, less crispy and attenuated. A bolder ESB interpretation, still well refreshing and balanced but unfortunately not as complex but highly respectable for most probably being an evolving brew of the style. Tastes really good and the body is quite tender. Overall very good quality craft.
