APPRECIATION |
Oatmeal stout, 4.8%: Tulip recommended. Opaque dark brown color, almost black. Slightly creamy brown 2 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with light legs, but good lace and decent swirl effect. Flavors of prunes, berries, plums, light chocolate, liquorice, dark malts and herbal spices. Barrel aged notes similar to a Russian stout and barleywine. Silky and creamy medium to full body with slightly crispy and prickly carbonation. Strong finish, tender rich malty and fruity feel, while thicky leafy and leathery, and a bit chalky. Has a nice earthy feel to it. Quite filling and warming. Powerful but decently fresh, it’s deeply rich and well intensified. Highly enjoyable brew, easy to down while complex and pleasant. Best brew they make.
